SUM 6900 cam and SUM 6901
I've used the SUM 6900 cam kit (with lifter for ~$120), and they work great in the little stock 318s we put together. Stock bottom ends, 6900 and a 4 brl. eddy intake and 600cfm carb./ stock exh. manifolds. Really and nice street motor. FWIW: sum-k6900 262/272 .420/442 or sum-6901 276/286 .441/.441
Wer'e now building up a 318 (84 5th AVe donor). bores were prefect, so we honed and replaced all the bearing, freezeplugs and rings. new timing chain, waterpump, oil pump of course. Stock heads. But we installed the SUM 6901 cam this time. Assuming performer intake and 600 carb (same setup as earlier), manifolds of some type.
1) What kind of "difference" can I expect with the 6901 over the 6900?
A 360 build is next, .030 over, 74 block, with rebuilt small valve stock heads from 78. I'm assuming 8.5 to 1 for sake of argument. I'd like this one to wind up a little more. Its going in a 65 Dart with a beefed up 904. It will have an Eddy RPM intake. either 600 or 750 carb. (which? I don't know)
2) What Cam on this 360 using choking 273 manifolds? (yes...I know it sucks)
3) What Cam on the 360 with fenderwheels or underchassis headers? (hell, I might make my own for once!!! early A with coilovers, so more room!!!!)
4) 6901 is currently in the 318. but I could pull it and put in a 6900, and save the 6901 for the 360 - what do you think?????
thanks for the opinions....
